The Community Grant Program Committee is responsible for identifying priorities and criteria for HEAL grant awards. This committee recommends the number of grantees, the funding cycle, and the community profile for funding consideration.
To avoid conflicts of interest, the committee makeup includes active and retired state or local health department staff who have done community-focused grantmaking, state based advocacy agencies (e.g. Am. Cancer Society, Breathe NH), and out of state content area experts and those who conduct work through community-focused grantmaking.
